HOW TO USE: STEP BY STEP

1. On dry hair, start on the top of your head and take a section of hair as wide as the roller.
2. Mist Modern Hairspray over the whole section to add hold. This will also hold shorter layers of hair in place as you wrap the hair around the roller. 
3. Pull the section of hair up and forward, wrap the ends of the hair around the roller.  Roll it down away from the face until it sits on the head, secure with a clip provided.
4. Make sure to get the ends in smooth and use the right clips - as the ones included in the Big Set - so that you don't dent your hair.
5. Repeat over the whole head using large rollers on the top,  medium rollers at the sides and back then smallest rollers around the hairline over the ears and neckline. (If you have your own set of Velcro rollers you can use them too.)
6. Cover your velcro rollers with the Hair by Sam McKnight hood dryer and secure with the toggled drawstring and chin strap.
7. Attach to any hair dryer using the looped elastic at the end of the hose.
8. For best results use warm heat and medium speed settings for 15-20 min.
9. Remove the hood and let the hair cool down completely. 
10. Remove rollers and brush or comb hair into style. Finish with a final mist of Modern Hairspray for lasting hold with a touchably soft, glossy finish.

HOT TIP - If your ears get hot using the hood, simply fold a tissue in half and place over the top of your ears. 



FAQs

Should I use the Big Set on freshly washed hair?
You can use the Big Set in between hair washes however using it on freshly washed hair will ensure long-lasting results.

Should I use all the rollers in the Big Set?
A combination of your natural hair texture, hair length, and the size and number of rollers will determine the styling result. The more rollers you use, the more voluminous the result will be. As a rule, smaller rollers will result in waves or curls, while larger rollers are best for building volume and lift.

What size of rollers should I use, and where?
Use larger rollers at the crown and the top of your head for lift and volume right from the roots. Use medium-sized rollers on the sides and the back of your head.

Are blow dry hoods gentler on the hair?
The indirect heat from blow dry hoods is generally gentler on the hair. The slower, more controlled drying process reduces the risk of heat damage.

Are there any tips or tricks to make the style last longer?
Yes! Remove the hood and leave the rollers in for 10–15 minutes whilst you are getting ready.

Can other products affect the results I get with the Big Set?
Yes. Not rinsing the hair properly after using a conditioner and before the rollers are put in will leave the hair heavy, which counteracts volume. For styling products, you'll want to look for those that add hold without weighing down the hair.

What products work best with the Big Set?

Is achieving big hair easier with velcro rollers than blow-drying with the brush? 
It’s a great alternative. Velcro rollers can make achieving big, voluminous hair easier especially if you have thick, layered hair or you find it difficult to get enough tension on the hair when blow drying with a brush. When applied on freshly washed and rough-dried hair, they will help to smooth the hair, providing lift and volume at the roots, and hold it there. The gentle heat of a hood dryer locks the set, helping hair to retain the shape and stay smooth for longer. Plus, they are a time saviour, allowing you to continue getting ready whilst your hair sets.
