Split ends happen when the cuticle – the protective outer layer of each hair strand - is damaged, causing it to feather/ fray/ split in two. And they are caused by physical damage (brushing/ vigorous towel drying/ heat styling), chemical damage (colouring, relaxing, keratin treatments) and general every day wear and tear.

NOURISH, HYDRATE, MOISTURISE...
Keeping your hair moisturised and hydrated will help to protect your hair from splitting apart. GENTLY CARE FOR WET HAIR
Squeeze freshly washed hair with a towel rather than vigorously rubbing it to protect the cuticle. Avoid aggressively brushing or combing your hair – especially when it’s wet and at its most fragile. That’s because when damp hair is combed aggressively or tightly tied up, it stretches, causing cuticle edges to lift up and crack, making it feel rough, and creating brittle, fragile hair.

GO TANGLE FREE
To detangle your hair, start combing from the ends, slowly and gently working your way upwards to the roots. If your hair tangles easily, apply my Light Nourish Conditioner as a leave-in conditioner to your mid-lengths or ends before starting to brush.

Regular heat from a blow-dry, curling iron or straightener can damage your cuticles, affecting your hair's ability to retain moisture which can lead to dry and dehydrated strands.
