I am obsessed with fragrance. My house is full of candles, and I’ve been buying my favourites from Diptyque for the last 40 years since they started. It’s also one of my go-to gifts.

The smell of my garden after the rain is just incredible. I asked Lyn Harris from Perfumer H to help me develop a signature scent for Hair by SamMcKnight, and it’s this smell we both loved.
We spent many an afternoon in my garden to get it just right. I wanted to create something that smelt more like fine-fragrance than haircare. I didn’t want a one-note fragrance, but something rich with the layers that I get from my garden. To recreate this we used top notes of green leaf, herbs, water lily, clean pepper and frankincense. Then depth from a base of wet, woody juniper and cedar wood.
The haircare collection is infused with our signature fine fragrance which has been an instant hit backstage at shows and on shoots. I think I might even do a hair scent… what do you think?
