What is hair texture?
Your hair texture refers to the natural physical characteristics of your hair strands. This includes the shape and thickness of your hair fibres. Common textures include straight, wavy, curly, and coily. To determine your texture, take a strand of your hair after drying it without any heat or styling products. Straight hair will fall smoothly, with no visible bends. Wavy hair will have gentle S or C shapes that vary throughout. Curly hair will form distinct spirals or ringlets. Coily hair will have tight coils and can also form a zigzag-like pattern. To determine your hair’s thickness, run a strand between your thumb and forefinger. If you cannot feel the strand or can hardly feel it, you have fine hair. If you can feel the strand with no trouble, you have thick hair. If you are somewhere in between, you have medium hair.
