The Leaping Bunny programme is the gold standard in cruelty – free certification. Becoming certified means that Hair by Sam McKnight’s supply chain, from ingredients to formulations to finished products are free of animal testing.

RECYCLABLE PACKAGING

All our packaging is recyclable. 80% of our packs, where it doesn’t affect the expected product performance, are made from 30% - 70% post-consumer recycled material (PCR) allowing us to reduce plastic waste and lower our carbon footprint.

FSC CERTIFIED CARTONS

Our card packaging is made with Forest Stewardship Council certified card stock. FSC promotes responsible forestry, ensuring the highest environmental and social standards are met.

CERTIFIED BY VEGAN SOCIETY

We care for animals and the environment, which is why Hair by Sam McKnight products* do not contain any animal products or by-products. All our ingredients have been independently audited and verified by the Vegan Society.

CERTIFIED KIND TO BIOME

All our cleansers are certified kind to your scalp's microbiome. They do not contain harsh surfactants and are designed to maintain long-term scalp health, and to promote healthy hair growth.

WHAT IS THE MICROBIOME?
The microbiome of our skin and scalp refers to the community of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi that can be found living together in that habitat. Our natural healthy microbiome and its fragile balance is our main ally in maintaining skin and scalp health. If the balance of microorganisms gets disrupted, and one type of bacteria overpowers the rest, the microbiome—and the health of anything supported by that habitat—can become compromised, which in turn can lead to inflammation and sensitivity. A healthy microbiome is crucial in building a healthy immune system. 

WHY IS HEALTHY SCALP MICROBIOME IMPORTANT?
The scalp microbiome is vital for keeping your scalp and hair healthy. A healthy microbiome starts from birth and is directly impacted by our environment. It helps to create a certain balanced environment on our skin, which provides the first line of defence against harmful pathogens. The main difference between the scalp and skin ecosystems is what type of microorganisms live in each area.
