HOW TO GET YOUR BEST WASH
Sam x
WHAT SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR IN MY CLEANSER?
A healthy scalp equals healthy hair. For the best foundation to healthy hair growth, choose our Kind to Biome® cleansers that are certified to leave your scalp hydrated and microbiome balanced. It is also important to look out for cleansers that are sulfate and paraben free, to avoid extra moisture being stripped from your hair and scalp.
HOW SHOULD I APPLY MY CLEANSER?
Apply your shampoo to wet hair and massage into the roots; if you need to create more of a slip, rather than adding more product, add a little more water. This helps to distribute the product more evenly by making a lather.
IS A COOL RINSE NECESSARY?
Hot water can irritate the scalp and strip natural oils from your hair, which can lead to breakage and dryness. Rinsing your hair with lukewarm or cool water when you wash helps to prevent any moisture stripping, leaving your scalp balanced.
HOW MUCH PRODUCT SHOULD I USE?
The amount of product you use depends on the length and thickness of your hair. As a rule, a 50p amount for shoulder length hair and (roughly) double that for long hair is a good guide. The important thing is to make sure you rinse the product clean from your hair.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I USE TOO MUCH CONDITIONER?
Using too much conditioner can weigh your hair down and leave it looking greasy. If you have fine or oily hair avoid the roots altogether – using conditioner only from your mid-lengths to your ends.
IS A DOUBLE-CLEANSE NECESSARY?
Double-cleansing is a great way to ensure your hair is fully clean and refreshed - especially important if you've used styling products, haven't washed your hair for more than three days, or spend time in a high-pollution environment. The first cleanse removes product and sebum build-up, while the second will ensure your scalp can reap the benefits of the cleanser formulation.
DO I NEED TO DOUBLE CLEANSE EVERY TIME I WASH MY HAIR?
It depends on how often you wash and the condition your hair is currently in. If you washed your hair the day before and haven’t used any products or exercised heavily, one cleanse is enough. If it’s been a few days, you live in a city with pollution or you’ve used a few different hair products, a double cleanse should be your go-to. Think of it just like a make-up and skincare double cleanse.
SHOULD I USE THE SAME SHAMPOO FOR BOTH CLEANSES?
Here, there are no rules! If you have heavy product build-up, use a more detoxifying shampoo first and select a more benefit-led shampoo for your second. So if you are after volume, prioritise your volumising care on the second cleanse. However, if you're loving just the one shampoo, then there's no need to switch it up. You do you!
SHOULD I USE A HAIR TREATMENT MASK?
Yes! A hair treatment every third cleanse will have instant benefits as well as leaving you with long-term healthy results. Get 10x stronger hair and repair up to 50% of split ends in 6 uses with our restorative Treatment Masks. Choose Deeper Love if your primary goal is to treat and transform your hair health, or Bigger Love if you want to thicken your hair and inject all-over volume.
POST WASH, HOW SHOULD I MANAGE MY HAIR?
When hair is wet, it's fragile, so it needs to be handled with care. Prevent breakage and frizz by using a microfibre towel and gently squeezing the hair, starting from the top and moving down to the ends of the hair. To detangle, use a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush with a flexible wide tooth to prevent pulling. If blow-drying, spritz Save The Do for all-over protection and light hold.
