Does what you eat affect the health of your hair? Is ‘hair training’ a good idea? Join my great friend Rosemary Ferguson – 90s model turned nutritionist and Functional Medicine Practitioner - in Studio 53 for my new 'Hair Talks' series. MYTH: WHAT YOU'RE EATING DOESN'T IMPACT YOUR HAIR
"That what's going on on the outside isn't connected to the inside - it's rubbish! It absolutely, 150,000% is connected."
Eating whole foods, fruits and vegetables that are high in hair-loving vitamins and minerals such as B, C, and D, plus iron and zinc, will do your hair and your gut the world of good.
MYTH: YOU DON'T NEED TO REGULARLY CLEANSE YOUR HAIR
"You're surrounded by pollution which can upset the microbiome on your scalp. Giving it a cleanse is really important."
Removing product buildup and pollution is vital for the health of your scalp. However, avoid harsh chemicals that strip your scalp's microbiome. Opt for gentle cleansers such as our Kind to Biome® certified care, that leave your scalp balanced and hydrated.
MYTH: YOUR GENETICS DICTATE WHAT YOUR HAIR IS LIKE
"What you are born with genetically doesn’t necessarily dictate what your hair is like… it’s [also] what you eat, the environment you're in, the amount of stress you are under."
Whilst genetics play a huge role, your hair is often expression of any physical, mental or emotional stress you might be under. High stress levels can impede the amount of nutrients your body absorbs, affecting hair health.
Make your days as stress-free as possible with an intensely nourishing hair mask. By taking 5-minutes to apply, and giving yourself a scalp massage, you can release tension and stress as well as stimulate blood circulation, promoting healthy hair growth.
