HOW TO KEEP YOUR SCALP MICROBIOME HEALTHY
The scalp microbiome is vital for keeping your scalp and hair healthy. A healthy microbiome starts from birth and is effected by our environment, including factors such as pollution, tap water, stress and diet.
If your scalp has ever felt tight, dry, itchy or irritated try these tips to help restore and maintain balanced, healthy scalp microbiome.

WASH WITH THE RIGHT SHAMPOOS
Too harsh shampoos might kill all microorganisms, on your scalp. Most hair products will have some effect on the microbiome. This is fine if the effect is minimal and does not affect the overall balance of the healthy microbiome. Try our microbiome-gentle, Cool Girl Volume Cleanse, Light Cleanse or Rich Cleanse shampoos.
DON’T OVER WASH
Washing your hair more than once a day or using a shampoo formula that contains harsh ingredients may lead to an over-stripping of your natural oils. This can inhibit the growth of good bacteria, and enable other, more harmful microorganisms to flourish.
AVOID PRODUCT BUILD-UP
If you go days between shampooing whilst using excessive amounts of dry shampoo or styling products on the scalp —it’s important that you deep clean your scalp. Product build-up on the scalp can clog hair follicles, trap scalp oils, cause irritation, and disrupt the microbiome.
GET A HEALTHY AMOUNT OF VITAMIN D
In the short winter days, lack of sun exposure can cause vitamin D deficiency, which can trigger a host of health problems including poor scalp health. So, make sure to get out in the sun a minimum of 15 minutes per day helps support healthy vitamin D3 levels.
